Instead of unlocking our front door with a key like we’ve done for so many years, we can conveniently use keypads or fingerprint recognition to unlock it now without trying to retrieve a key or place it in the lock.
Technology advances
Whether we refer to them as inventions, technology, upgrades, processes, or new ways of doing something, we have many labor-saving (and time-saving, generally as well) methods and tools to use today that we didn’t have in the past. This tends to make all of our lives easier, but only to the point that we choose to use the new devices and techniques that are available.
Some people find old ways hard to give up in favor of newer devices or methods.
All of us are acquainted with telephones, but not so long ago, we only had dial telephones. Not everyone even had access to one of them in their home. In fact, whether someone had a telephone in their home used to be a question on the decennial census. Now nearly everyone, from children to seniors, has at least one cell phone. Quite a change!
Making our lives easier
In addition to being able to do things now that we didn’t have access to previously, such as cell phones when it wasn’t that long ago that they didn’t exist or not to the extent or quality that they do now, we get to dramatically improve the amount of time or effort required to complete simple tasks..Technology can help us when we let it.
We may be used to doing things a certain way, and still may be able to continue doing them that way. However, there may come a time when it just makes sense to switch to a quicker, easier, or more effective way of doing something.
Creatures of habit
To an extent, we may be creatures of habit, liking or choosing to do things a certain way and being slow to change to a newer way. However, many things are going to be quicker to do with a new technology than what we have been doing. In some cases, we won’t be able to function as efficiently as we would like. How many of us would like to run our business, take notes, or write correspondence without a computer? It can be done but not nearly as efficiently.
By being receptive to new procedures, devices, or techniques as they are introduced, we can those that will be beneficial to us. We may not want everything that comes along, and some items may not be that economical for us, but there are many things that can help us that we may want to adopt..
