Steve Hoffacker Is Your CAPS Instructor For Community Outreach
Steve Hoffacker CAPS CEAC SHSS, in addition to his many activities in the real estate, design, and construction industries, has a strong foundation in occupation therapy and how OTs, physical therapists, case managers, and mobility equipment specialist can deliver impactful services to address the needs of people who are aging in place.
As a professional sociologist, Steve has an extensive history of working with community organizations (both governmental and non-profit), including many years as a city planner in both Illinois and Florida. He was one of the initial recipients of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) designations.
As a Certified Aging In Place Specialist and Master Instructor, Steve has been a member of several local organizations aimed at helping people stay in their homes, renovating their homes for that purpose – especially for accommodating a physical limitation, and working with lower income individuals to accomplish meaningful changes. He is a member of the National Council for Independent Living.
As an instructor and consultant, Steve has worked in several markets across the country with local governments, housing authorities, county extension services, aging councils, and other agencies involved in creating or offering acceptable solutions for the public.
Steve developed a program through the University of Florida to involve local County Extension Agents in delivering the aging in place message and renovations to their respective service areas.
Steve welcomes anyone associated with a local Center for Independent Living, Habitat for Humanity, Area Council on Aging, or other organization to attend his classes as so many already have.
