Professional development webinars introduced
Starting last summer, we have been offering free hour-long educational webinars about products, strategies, or other concepts that can help any CAPS professional enhance their breadth of knowledge in the aging in place services arena. Aging in place is an extremely broad topic and one that deals with a constantly changing marketplace so it’s nice to have timely information available to share.
We made the decision to offer these programs at no charge. Attendees do not pay to attend, and the presenters do not receive any compensation for presenting their topic. If there is a product involved and it seems like a reasonable solution for your clients, then please connect with the particular presenters to explore solutions that might be appropriate for you.
A mix of products and strategies
The intent of the webinar series, which is not offered on a set date such as the first Tuesday of the month but rather on a Tuesday every 5 or 6 weeks so as to not become too frequent or too rigid, is to provide education through a mix of product presentations and marketplace ideas to help you build you aging in place business.
In some cases, it will mean a visual introduction into a product or series of products that a manufacturer offers by touring their showroom with them. Other times, it might be a more in-depth look into a particular solution for our clients. Sometimes it will be a strategy that we want to employ by knowing more about its intricacies and its effect on the marketplace.
We are not limited in geography. In addition to presentations from US-based companies and individuals, we have had presentations from ComforTek Seating in Lethbridge, Alberta, and on the 18th of this month, we are hearing from Pressalit A/S from Denmark. Visit my website to enroll in the program on the 18th.
Educational opportunities
The main reason we are offering these programs is to provide additional insights into products, solutions, and concepts that may be useful to us as we operate our aging in place businesses.
Keep visiting the website for new courses as they are announced and to register for them. They always are free, held on a Tuesday from 11-12 eastern time, and generally are recorded. Missed an earlier episode or want to watch it again? Visit the webinar page for recordings of previous programs.
These programs offer 1 hour of continuing education credit for CAPS, NKBA, AIBD, and any other designation that allows self-reporting of hours. However, AOTA does not support CEs for product presentations. Nevertheless, with or without an hour of CE credit, the information presented will be a great addition to your professional development and likely unavailable to you in the same format elsewhere.
